The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the appointment of Usha Janakiraman as Executive Director (ED) with effect from December 1, 2025.
With over three decades of experience in the central bank, Janakiraman has worked in various areas, including regulation, external investment and operations, banking supervision, public debt management, and currency management.
About Usha Janakiraman
As Executive Director, Janakiraman will oversee the Department of Supervision (Risk, Analytics and Vulnerability Assessment).
The RBI has also appointed Sonali Sen Gupta and Sanjay Kumar Hansda as executive directors in October 2025.
RBI's announcement comes just before the central bank's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting on December 3.
