The Mayiladuthurai District Judiciary recently held an awareness programme aimed at promoting gender equity, equality, and women's empowerment. The event also focused on preventing sexual harassment at the workplace.
The programme was inaugurated by Justice K.K. Ramakrishnan, Judge of the Madras High Court, who oversees the administrative functions of the district judiciary.
According to District Judge L.S. Sathiyamurthy, the event highlighted the role of the Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee (GSICC) and the safety measures implemented on district court premises.
He noted that complaints of workplace harassment had not been reported so far, indicating the effectiveness of the measures in place.
The programme was attended by police personnel, PWD engineers, and Revenue department staff, members of the judiciary, lawyers, government advocates, and students and faculty of AVC College.
The main objectives of the awareness programme included promoting gender equity, equality, and women's empowerment, as well as preventing sexual harassment at the workplace.
