Company Background

Yajur Fibres Limited is a bast fibre cottonising and processing unit of The Kankaria Group, which has roots in the jute and fibre industry for over 145 years. The company is a supplier of high-quality cottonised bast fibres (including flax (linen), jute and hemp), where long, rigid bast fibres are turned into shorter staples that can be blended with cotton or manmade fibres for spinning mills. Based at and around Howrah (West Bengal), its manufacturing sites have been geared towards providing these value-added fibres to textile firms across India as well as export markets. The group’s bast-fibre expertise combined with its R&D efforts enables Yajur Fibres to emerge as a preferred supplier to leading spinning mills in India and Bangladesh.

Conclusion

The Yajur Fibres IPO offers investors an opportunity to take a stake in a niche business that processes bast fibres for premium textile applications and is supported by an experienced industrialist group. Although the company intends to increase capacity, invest in another greenfield linen yarn project through a subsidiary and improve working capital, it is positioned to move further up the value chain in bast fibres and linen yarns, subject to successful execution and favourable demand trends.
