Suspect Arrested in Major Cyber Fraud Case

The Delhi police have made a significant arrest in a major cyber fraud case involving the loss of ₹40.27 lakh. The suspect, Himanshu Chauhan, a resident of Agra in Uttar Pradesh, has won several medals in national and state-level championships.

• Cyber Frauds Exposed: Chauhan was identified as the key facilitator in the operation, using mule bank accounts to route and layer the defrauded money.
• How it Worked: Chauhan would persuade people to provide mule bank accounts in return for commissions up to ₹1 lakh per account, which were then used to channel the proceeds of cyber fraud.
• Chauhan's History: The suspect has won silver and bronze medals at national championships and a gold medal in state-level championships for rifle events.

Delhi Police said that Chauhan misused his influence to lure people into making them part of the syndicate. The police also alleged that he persuaded people to provide mule bank accounts in return for commissions up to ₹1 lakh per account.

Operation Kavach: 24-Hour Drive Against Organised Crime

As part of the Republic Day celebrations, the Delhi Police launched a 24-hour drive against organised crime and narco offenders under Operation Kavach in the city.

• Raid Locations: Raids were conducted at 2,348 locations in the city.
• Arrests and Seizures: 1,682 people were held under the Delhi Excise Act, and over 50,000 liquor bottles were seized.
• Other Arrests: 117 people were held with arms and weapons, and over 2,276 vehicles were seized under the Delhi Police Act.

Police also checked the records of 4,546 "bad characters" in their areas to ensure law and order, the officer said.
