The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the appointment of Usha Janakiraman as an Executive Director (ED) in the Department of Supervision, effective from December 1, 2025.
Janakiraman was previously serving as the Chief General Manager-in-Charge of the Department of Regulation in the RBI’s Central Office in Mumbai. Her appointment as Executive Director marks a significant milestone in her three-decade-long career with the Reserve Bank.
As Executive Director, Janakiraman will be responsible for overseeing the Department of Supervision (Risk, Analytics and Vulnerability Assessment). Her leadership will focus on ensuring the effective supervision of financial institutions and maintaining financial stability.
Janakiraman is a Chartered Accountant, a testament to her expertise in accounting and financial management.
