For retail investors, tracking where Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) invest can offer valuable market insights, as FIIs typically buy stocks only after conducting detailed research and gaining strong conviction. An analysis of the BSE Mid-Cap Index shows that 12 stocks witnessed an increase in shareholding by both FIIs and retail investors (individual shareholders with nominal share capital of up to Rs 2 lakh) in the December quarter compared with the previous quarter.
However, the broader market has turned volatile in recent months. Amid rising global uncertainties and cautious investor sentiment, Indian equities have witnessed a sharp sell-off. Reflecting this pressure, 11 of these 12 midcap stocks have delivered negative returns over the past three months, with some declining by as much as 40%. (Data source: ACE Equity)
