In a significant step toward social inclusion, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has launched the 'Divyang Shakti' scheme. This initiative grants free bus travel for people with disabilities, marking a major stride in promoting social equity and ease of mobility within the state.

The scheme was inaugurated in Amaravati and is considered a special offering for the Ugadi festival. It represents a landmark mobility support program benefiting over 12.76 lakh individuals, including 11.16 lakh persons with disabilities and their attendants. Beneficiaries can travel on five types of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) buses for free, potentially saving up to Rs 2,000 per month.

The 'Divyang Shakti' initiative underscores the government's commitment to the welfare of specially-abled individuals, with Rs 207 crore earmarked for its implementation. In a coordinated launch, MLAs introduced the scheme across various constituencies, engaging with the community and the beneficiaries through outreach events.
