According to a recent report by Equirus Wealth Limited, Indian women investors have been making a significant shift in their investment choices over the past five years.

Increased Confidence in Equity Investments: Women are now more confident in investing in high-risk but rewarding equity markets, with equity mutual fund allocations surging from 10 per cent to 32 per cent.
Decline in Fixed Deposit Investments: Meanwhile, investments in fixed deposits have decreased from 40 per cent to 20 per cent.

The study, titled “Expanding Horizons: Changing Wealth Management Behaviours of Indian Women – Qualitative Analysis of Investor Evolution Across Age and Affluence,” reveals that women investors are increasingly adopting a diversified, allocation-driven portfolio strategy.

Key Findings from the Study

Avoiding Panic Selling: 70-90% of investors hold or review their investments during market corrections rather than exiting in panic, showcasing maturity during market cycles.
Selective Capital Addition: Around 55% of investors selectively add capital during market dips, reflecting growing conviction and a longer-term approach to investing.
Rise of "Bucket Investing": Investors are increasingly dividing portfolios into buckets like safety, growth, liquidity, and legacy, rather than buying random financial products.
Evolved Risk Perception: Risk is no longer seen only as loss of capital; investors now consider inflation, goal failure, and portfolio drawdowns as risks.
Intergenerational Wealth Transfer: 75-90% of investors are discussing intergenerational wealth transfer and financial discipline for the next generation.

A Cautious Approach to AI

While Artificial Intelligence may dominate global investment conversations, Indian women investors are adopting it cautiously, using AI primarily as a research and learning tool rather than for autonomous investment decisions.
