Dr Kiran Bedi, former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, urged the employees of Vedanta Aluminium to show up with integrity every single day and recognise that the choices one makes at work ripple far beyond immediate environment
Addressing over 1000 employees, business partners, families, and community members at an engaging town hall meeting, she said employees should stay committed to learning, lead with empathy and connect with people by listening and understanding before correcting.
A stronger workforce needs more women, who bring a steady mindset, empathy and the drive to deliver. If one works with purpose, take ownership and build a sense of belonging, recognition will follow, she said at the company’s interactive meeting at Jharsuguda.
She shared several insights from her decades of frontline public leadership, focusing on how supporting inclusivity and equity efforts can help unlock new avenues for transformation.
Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Non-Executive Director, Vedanta and Chairperson, Hindustan Zinc said women make up over 23 per cent of Vedanta which is the first company in India to operate an all-women potline. A potline is a long industrial building or series of interconnected electrolytic cells (pots) where alumina is smelted into molten aluminium .
“Our focus is to create equal opportunities for all, ensuring merit leads every decision we undertake at Vedanta,” she said.
C Chandru, CEO, Vedanta Jharsuguda said the company is the first aluminium plant in Odisha to enable women to work night shifts to ensure equal opportunities for all employees.
