Sergey Brin, the Google co-founder and world's fourth richest person, has made a significant donation of over $1.1 billion worth of Alphabet Inc. stock this week. The majority of the funds, approximately $1 billion, will be directed towards Catalyst4, a nonprofit established by Brin in 2021.
This donation is not the first from Brin, as in May, he previously donated Alphabet shares worth $700 million to the same three charities.
As of now, Brin's net worth stands at $255.5 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His net worth has seen a significant increase this year, thanks to a rally in Alphabet shares, which reached a high of $323 on Tuesday, driven by the company's artificial intelligence gains. Brin owns approximately 6% of the business and has seen his fortune gain $97.3 billion this year so far.
