For retail investors, monitoring where Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) allocate their funds can provide valuable market insights, as FIIs typically invest only after thorough research and with strong conviction. An analysis of BSE small-cap stocks shows that about 164 stocks witnessed increased ownership by both FIIs and retail investors (defined as individual shareholders holding up to Rs 2 lakh in nominal share capital) compared to the previous quarter.
In terms of price performance in CY26 so far, the data shows that the majority of these stocks delivered negative returns; however, on the flip side, there are a few gainers as well, and among them, 10 stocks have rallied in the range of 20% to 105% in just the first four months of CY26.
