The Union Cabinet has approved a major extension to the existing North-South corridor of the Gujarat Metro.
The extension, which is scheduled to be completed in four years, will stretch for 3.33 kilometers and include three elevated stations.
The extended corridor is expected to strengthen connectivity between Ahmedabad and GIFT region, benefiting major multinational companies, educational institutions, and commercial centers located along the proposed route.
This extension will also enhance network integration and passenger convenience for daily commuters travelling between Ahmedabad and GIFT region for business, employment, and education purposes.
The project will be implemented by Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC), a 50:50 joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat.
