Jyotiraditya Scindia At Times Now Summit 2026
Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia said the State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has registered a net profit of around Rs 5000 crores, a big move coming for the telecom player after 18 years. While speaking at the Times Now Summit 2026, Scindia said BSNL is "now spinning out cash" and has certain huge plans for the upcoming fiscal. He also said there are plans to double the Rs 5000 crore operational profit in the next fiscal.
BSNL has posted an Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) of Rs 4,858 crore cumulatively in the nine months ending December 31, 2025, of fiscal year 2026, growing by 105% compared to the corresponding period a year ago.
"We have big plans for the capital expenditure. This spending will be done through the surplus of money that we have received from the operating profit," Scindia said.
The public sector telco has also recorded a revenue of Rs 17,705 crore in the first three quarters of FY26, a rise of 13% over the corresponding periods in the previous period.
India Post to launch IPO soon
Speaking on the performance of the India Post, the minister said the entity is meeting the potential of e-commerce business, and will be pushing the business further.
The minister said India Post id hopefully to take go public, and launch the Initial Public Offering (IPO) soon.
"No logistics network matches India Post. We have 1.65 lakh points of presence across 6.5 lakh villages..," he said.
The minister also noted that India Post will post double digit increase in terms of sales, and will become the "logistics powerhouse of India."
