IPO-bound B2B marketplace JSW One Platforms has acquired Pidilite Ventures-backed proptech startup BuildNext Construction Solutions as it looks to expand its presence in India’s fragmented home construction and renovation market.
As part of the transaction, Pidilite Ventures will transfer its entire stake in BuildNext to JSW One through a share-swap arrangement at a mutually agreed valuation. Pidilite Ventures will, however, continue to invest in the startup, reflecting confidence in the business. As per its RoC filings, Pidilite Ventures will invest up to Rs 22 crore in BuildNext by subscribing to compulsorily convertible preference shares.
The acquisition builds on JSW One’s existing offering, JSW One Homes, and aims to create an integrated platform spanning materials procurement, design, execution and project management for individual home builders, contractors and architects.
“At JSW One, we are focused on solving inefficiencies across industries through a technology-led approach. Home construction in India remains highly fragmented, with customers facing issues around coordination, visibility and trust,” said Gaurav Sachdeva, joint managing director and CEO, JSW One Platforms.
Sachdeva added that with JSW One Homes, the company is bringing together materials, design and execution into a seamless platform. "The addition of BuildNext strengthens this vision and helps deliver a more predictable and organised home-building experience at scale."
Pidilite Ventures said the combination could unlock long-term value by integrating BuildNext’s design and execution capabilities with JSW One’s supply chain and distribution strengths.
“BuildNext has developed strong capabilities in home design and project management. Combining this with JSW One’s platform, supply chain and reach can significantly improve customer experience,” said Sanket Parekh, director at Pidilite Ventures.
Founded in 2015 by Gopikrishnan V and Finaz Naha, Kochi-based BuildNext offers tech-enabled home construction and interior design services. The startup operates a chain of virtual reality-enabled experience centres.
India’s housing market continues to see steady demand, driven by urbanisation, rising disposable incomes and a growing preference for customised homes. Industry executives say consumers are increasingly shifting towards organised platforms offering end-to-end services.
