Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s studio Artists Equity signed a first-look production and distribution agreement with Netflix. The production house entered a multi-year production and distribution pact with the streaming giant. As per reports, the deal was signed after the artist equity-produced Netflix film The Rip racked up 112 million views on the platform since its release on January 16. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon Sign Deal with Netflix According to Variety reports, under the terms of the partnership, Artists Equity will handle creative and production for its movies. This deal only covers straight-to-streaming titles. Following the announcement, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon shared a joint statement. “This is an incredible milestone for Artists Equity and one that validates the vision we’ve been working towards since 2022. From the jump, we’ve seen this growing need for an independent supplier comfortable across the entire creative process, from development to final cut. What Do We Know About The Rip Directed by Joe Carnahan, The Rip stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon as police officers in the Miami-Dade Police Department narcotics unit. Alongside them the film also stars Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler in other important roles. Artist Equity’s Upcoming Netflix Film Following the deal, Netflix will release Ben Affleck’s next directorial feature, the Artists Equity film Animals, later this year. The film will star Affleck, Kerry Washington, Gillian Anderson, Adriana Paz, Ray Fisher and Matt Gerald in prominent roles with Luis Gerardo Mendez and Yeun. The film follows a Los Angeles mayoral candidate and his wife’s relentless efforts to come up with ransom money after their son gets kidnapped amid the political campaign.
