Recent IPO Updates
- Nearly 70%, or 48 of 70 IPOs listed in H1 FY27, delivered an average return of 54.5% to investors, while 22 IPOs traded below issue prices with an average decline of 19.1%. ESDS Software Solutions led gains at 233.7%.
- B2B commerce platform OfBusiness plans to launch its IPO next year, targeting a DRHP filing in November to raise roughly $1 billion.
- Digital giant Jio Platforms is preparing for its public listing by late October, eyeing a record-breaking $3.8 billion IPO size at an enterprise valuation exceeding ₹12 trillion.

- Indian tech companies raised $503.2 million across 31 funding rounds during September 16-30, 2026, down 74% from the previous fortnight and 72.41% from the same period last year.
Business & Economic Updates
- Mid-tier IT firms are expected to outperform larger peers in Q2 FY27, with Persistent Systems forecast to grow 7% sequentially, Coforge 4.5% and Mphasis 3.5%, supported by large deal wins and acquisitions.
- Indian firms are increasing spending on AI infrastructure as adoption accelerates, with IBM India highlighting rising demand for secure, governed AI systems and infrastructure spanning processors, storage, cloud and AI technologies.
- Indian equities could see a stronger H2 FY27 if West Asia tensions ease and crude prices retreat. Sensex gained 0.74% and Nifty 50 rose 1.29% in H1 FY27, while FPIs sold ₹1.30 lakh crore.
- India’s LPG imports from West Asia fell 71% year-on-year to 2.93 million tonnes in H1 FY27, reducing the region’s share to 39.6%. US shipments more than tripled to 3.76 million tonnes, raising its share to 50.7%.
- The GST Council may consider a uniform 5% GST rate for all 146 FCO-registered bio-stimulants, along with GST waivers for seed storage and warehousing. GST on retreaded tractor tyres may also be reduced from 18% to 5%.
- An IBBI study has proposed appointing IBBI-certified insolvency professionals to manage the remaining assets of failed banks, under RBI and DICGC oversight, to improve recoveries and strengthen the bank liquidation framework.
- The Insurance Brokers Association of India has warned that proposed IRDAI distribution reforms could put at least one million livelihoods at risk, potentially affecting sales, servicing and claims staff across insurers.
- Cement prices rose ₹6-7 per bag in September to around ₹359, after declining 1-1.5% sequentially in Q2 FY27. Analysts expect further ₹5-15 increases, citing elevated fuel and other input costs.
- OPEC+ is set to keep oil production targets unchanged in November, following a decision by seven member countries led by Saudi Arabia and Russia to maintain output in line with their existing roadmap.

- The GST Council may allow small online sellers to use e-commerce warehouses as registered business places, enabling nationwide sales through a single verified address. Platforms may also assume greater compliance responsibilities.
- The GST Council may allow telecom operators to claim input tax credit on telecom towers by treating them as equipment rather than immovable property. Tower sites may also be exempted from separate registration requirements.
- The GST Council may consider extending the existing 5% GST rate with restricted input tax credit, or 18% with full ITC, to electric vehicle-based passenger transport and vehicle rental services, bringing EVs closer to the treatment of ICE vehicles.
- The GST Council may consider allowing input tax credit on hotel rooms priced below ₹7,500 a night, potentially extending the benefit to related hotel services such as restaurants, spas, fitness centres and salons.
