Two microcap stocks , including Rotographics (India) and Spice Islands Industries , are set to turn ex-record date on Friday for their respective 1:5 stock splits, effectively making today the last day for interested investors to buy shares of the companies to be eligible for the corporate action.

According to SEBI's T+1 settlement cycle, investors must buy a company's shares at least one trading day before the record date to ensure the shares are credited to their demat accounts in time, and they become eligible for the corporate action. Accordingly, today is the last opportunity for investors to buy the shares so that they are credited to their accounts by Friday, making them eligible for the stock split.

For example, let’s take an investor who owns 100 shares worth Rs 10 each of a company that has announced a 1:5 stock split. This takes the total value of her stock holding to Rs 1,000. After the stock split takes effect, her 100 shares will be split into 200 shares, but the value of each of these shares will reduce to Rs 5. This will keep the total value of stock holding unchanged at Rs 1,000.

While the number of outstanding shares increases, the company’s overall market capitalisation remains unchanged. A lower share price can make the stock more accessible to retail investors, potentially improving participation and trading volumes.

Rotographics (India) is associated with the business of sale and purchase of paper, steel, heavy machinery and fabrics. The shares of the company have jumped over 11% in the past five days, and a whopping 151% in the past six months.

The stock is overall up 114% in 2026 so far. In the longer term, the shares of the company have delivered stellar returns of 344% in one year and a whopping 1,935% in five years. The company has a market capitalisation of around Rs 388 crore.

Spice Islands Industries is mainly a manufacturer of woven and knitted garments, such as shirts, blouses, skirts, t-shirts, polo shirts and more. The shares of the company have overall fallen a little over 1% in the past one month, but have gained 92% in the past six months, rallying over 170% in 2026 so far.

In the longer term, Spice Islands Industries shares skyrocketed 540% in one year and a whopping 8,808% in five years. The company has a market capitalisation of a little over Rs 303 crore.
