Telecom infrastructure firm RailTel Corporation of India Ltd on Tuesday said it has received a work order worth ₹166.8 crore, including taxes, from the Employees Provident Fund Organisation . The order is an extension of the work order for one year for Infra-as-a-Service through RailTel, involving additional components.
The order is scheduled to be executed until February 9, 2027. The order was received on August 17, 2026 and has been awarded by a domestic entity. RailTel said neither its promoter, promoter group, nor group companies have any interest in the entity awarding the order.

Kumar said telecom revenue is expected to grow 7-8% for the current financial year 2026-27 , while the project business, backed by a strong order book, is expected to grow 40-50% annually. He added that the revenue mix between projects and telecom, currently around 60:40, could shift to 70:30, putting pressure on overall margins even as individual segment margins hold steady.
Kumar said the company's Kavach railway safety business, which will start recognising revenue this year, carries margins better than the 4-5% project range and should support overall margin improvement. Kumar said over ₹2,000 crore in government trade receivables as of March reflects timing delays in milestone payments rather than a funding risk, since project financing is largely provided by business associate partners.

Shares of Railtel Corporation of India Ltd ended at ₹276.70, down by ₹3.20, or 1.14%, on the BSE.
