Shares of Info Edge gained nearly 6% on Monday, reacting to the company's first quarter earnings. The company reported a 42.9% rise in consolidated profit tax of ₹490 crore in the June quarter compared to ₹296 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue from operations rose 11.3% to ₹880 crore from ₹791 crore in the previous year, while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation increased nearly 29% to ₹340.4 crore from ₹264.1 crore.
The EBITDA margin expanded to 38.68% from 33.4% in the year-ago period. The recruitment segment was the largest contributor to Info Edge's revenue at ₹629 crore. The same was 11.9% more than the previous year's ₹562 crore. The revenue of 99 Acres increased 17.3% to ₹129.8 crore from ₹110.6 crore while the 'others' segment reported a revenue of ₹122 crore in the June quarter, up 3.58% from last year's ₹117.6 crore.
The recruitment segment's EBIT margin expanded to 56.12% from 50.71% in the year-ago period. Meanwhile, 99 Acres reported an EBIT loss of ₹2.1 crore compared to an EBIT loss of ₹18.7 crore last year, while the same was 3.4% in the previous quarter. The 'others' segment's EBIT loss increased to ₹26 crore from ₹17.4 crore in the previous fiscal.
The company's recruitment business sector grew annually, with tech IT and BPM rising 15, with recruitment consultants uo 1% and 'other sectors' up 12%. NaukriGulf grew at 12% from last year, while the business remained highly profitable. Matchmaking delivered steady growth.
Billings for Jeevansathi and Aisle combined grew by 20-30% from last year while operating losses continued to narrow down. Info Edge told CNBC-TV18 that the June quarter was very good for the company/ It said Naukri billings were up 17% for the firm.
It added that demand for AI talent is good. The company said GCC hiring is solid and important to track non-IT companies' hiring. It added that there was no plan for any buyback for Naukri either and no plan to offload any stake in Eternal. It added that 99Acres' traffic share is now over 50%.
Info Edge shares have gained 1.04% over the past week and 6.47% in the past month. The stock is up 31.04% over three months, while it is down 3.87% year to date and 3.75% over one year. Over a three-year period, the stock has gained 37.86%. As of the latest trading update, the shares were up 4.77% at ₹1,283.80.
Info Edge shares gained nearly 6% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,298.5 apiece on Friday. The stock was up 2.9% at ₹1,261 apiece at 2.35 pm. It has gained 4.7% in the past month but is down 6% this year, so far.
