The Indian Hotels Company Ltd , which operates the Taj and Ginger hotel brands, signed agreements for 47 hotels and opened 20 in the first half of FY2027, taking its portfolio to 670 hotels. The company’s signings included four Taj hotels, one Brij hotel and one Atmantan property in the luxury segment.
Ginger and Tree of Life accounted for 19 signings in the mid-scale segment. IHCL has another 280 hotels in its pipeline and is on track to reach its target of 700 hotels under its Accelerate 2030 strategy ahead of schedule, said Suma Venkatesh, executive vice president for real estate and development.

Venkatesh said the company’s expansion strategy covers different brands, markets and business models, including hotels it owns or leases and properties operated under fee-based arrangements. This mix allows IHCL to grow through both capital-intensive investments and models that require less capital.
During the first half, IHCL expanded in established hotel markets such as Mumbai, Gurugram, Goa and Hyderabad. It also entered emerging destinations, including Kandla, Ayodhya, Tadoba, Kota, Bokaro and Jorhat. Internationally, the company opened Taj hotels in Frankfurt, Germany, and Kruger, South Africa, taking its number of operating hotels to 390.

IHCL operates 10 hotel brands across different market segments, catering to a range of hospitality needs. IHCL expects revenue growth to exceed guidanceIHCL expects revenue growth to surpass its earlier guidance as demand for hotel rooms continues to outpace the addition of new supply, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Puneet Chhatwal said.
He expects the second half of FY27 to be strong, supported by festivals, weddings, business travel and the company's expansion in India and overseas. Chhatwal said industry data showed hotel demand grew 8.6% in the first half, compared with a 3.9% increase in supply.

This gap has helped hotels maintain their ability to charge higher room rates across major markets, including Delhi, Mumbai, Goa and Rajasthan. The company’s performance has exceeded internal expectations despite the seasonally weaker second quarter, he said.
IHCL continues to target revenue growth of 12-14%, although growth of more than 15% remains achievable, Chhatwal added. He said October was looking particularly strong, partly because of the timing of Dussehra, Diwali and wedding dates this year. IHCL shares closed 0.58% lower at ₹711.50 on the NSE on October 12, down ₹4.15.
