Hindustan Zinc Ltd reported a strong set of earnings for the first quarter of FY27, with net profit, revenue and EBITDA beating Street estimates, driven by higher metal prices, increased production and a stronger US dollar.
For the quarter ended June 2026, the company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 5,469 crore, up 145 percent from Rs 2,234 crore a year earlier. The figure was higher than the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of Rs 5,059 crore. Revenue rose 76.9 percent year-on-year to Rs 13,747 crore from Rs 7,771 crore, also exceeding the CNBC-TV18 estimate of Rs 12,599 crore.
EBITDA nearly doubled to Rs 8,050 crore from Rs 3,859 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, ahead of the CNBC-TV18 estimate of Rs 7,698 crore. The company's EBITDA margin expanded to 58.56 percent from 49.7 percent a year earlier. However, the margin came in below the CNBC-TV18 estimate of 61.1 percent, even as profitability improved significantly on a year-on-year basis.
On a standalone basis, total revenue from operations rose 77 per cent tp Rs 13,687 crore and net profit rose 146 per cent to Rs 5,425 crore.
Meanwhile, the board announced appointment of Amarendu Prakash as the Chief Executive Officer and Whole-time Director, effective August 01, replacing Arun Misra. Prakash previously served as Chairman and Managing Director of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) from 2023 to 2026.
Segment results
Sales from zinc and lead business rose 48 per cent and 25 per cent YOY to Rs 7,304 crore and Rs 1,086 crore respectively. Profit from the zinc and lead business rose 122 per cent to Rs 3,846 crore in the quarter ended June 30.
Silver revenue also surged 169 per cent to Rs 3,839 crore. However, on a sequential basis, silver revenue dropped 5 per cent from Rs 4,032 crore, as prices fell sharply from their absolute all-time record highs in January this year.
Silver profit also declined 2 per cent from the March quarter to Rs 3,327 crore, according to the results filing. On a YOY basis, silver profit jumped 170 per cent from Rs 1,232 crore reported in the same quarter last year.
Quarterly silver production stood at 149 tonnes, flat YoY, contributing 46 per cent towards overall profitability. Total mined metal production was at 268 MT, up 1 per cent YOY.

As demand for zinc continues to be driven by infrastructure and the energy transition, we remain committed to delivering responsible growth and long-term value for our stakeholders," said Misra.
Hindustan Zinc's total borrowings outstanding as on June 30, 2026, was Rs 7,320 crore.
