At a time when multiple OEMs have announced upward price revisions, a price cut comes as a pleasant surprise

Hero had launched the Canvas Black edition of HF Deluxe in June 2023 at Rs 60,760. Since then, prices have been increased multiple times. Before this price cut, the HF Deluxe Canvas Black was available at a starting price of Rs 67,634. Hero has now reduced the price of this variant by Rs 7,635. HF Deluxe Canvas Black is now available at Rs 59,999, which is lower than its original 2023 launch price.

Offer applicable in four states

While the Rs 7,635 price cut is significant, this offer is not available across India. Only four states get the benefit – Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. It is not certain if this offer will be rolled out to other states as well. With the price cut, HF Deluxe sales could see positive growth in the coming months.

Most of the features and equipment are the same as earlier. HF Deluxe Canvas Black is powered by a 97.2cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that generates 7.8 PS and 8.05 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 4-speed gearbox. Key features include a robust tubular double cradle frame, telescopic front forks, dual rear shock absorbers and drum brakes at both ends.

Why The Price Cut?

Hero has not revealed the reason behind the substantial reduction. However, the move comes at a time when competition in the entry-level commuter motorcycle segment remains intense. HF Deluxe competes against models such as Honda Shine 100, Bajaj Platina 100 and TVS Sport, all of which continue to attract value-conscious buyers. By bringing the Canvas Black edition below its original launch price, Hero appears to be making the variant more accessible while improving its value proposition in one of India’s most price-sensitive motorcycle segments.

HF Deluxe sales performance

Hero HF Deluxe has consistently ranked in the top 10 list of bestselling bikes in the country. However, sales in recent months are a bit concerning. In March 2026, HF Deluxe sales were at 85,088 units. That’s a negative YoY growth of -7.33%, as compared to 91,821 units sold in March last year. Sales in April 2026 were higher at 91,977 units, registering a strong YoY growth of 120.86%. However, sales in May 2026 were down by -38.09% YoY.

A total of 66,722 units were sold in May 2026, as compared to 1,07,768 units in May last year. Sales dropped further in June 2026 to 44,292 units. This was a -56.09% YoY drop in sales, as compared to 1,00,878 units sold in June last year. The price cut in large states can have the desired impact on sales in the coming months. While the price has been reduced, Hero has not introduced any cost-cutting measures.

Another noteworthy trend is the increasing pressure on Hero MotoCorp from its closest rivals, TVS Motor and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India. Hero has traditionally dominated the Indian two-wheeler market, but its lead has narrowed considerably over the past year. While Hero continues to hold the top spot in domestic wholesale sales, TVS topped the overall sales charts in June 2026, and Honda has also led the industry in recent months.

June 2026 wholesale data reflects how closely contested the market has become. TVS reported sales of 5,65,417 units, followed by Hero at 5,41,159 units and Honda at 5,28,281 units. The gap between the top three manufacturers now stands at just around 37,000 units, highlighting the intense competition at the top.

Even the latest Vahan registration data for July 2026 points to a similar trend. Honda is currently ahead of Hero by around 25,000 registrations, while TVS trails Hero by roughly the same margin. With the top three manufacturers separated by only about 55,000 units, every incremental sale has become increasingly important.

The aggressive price reduction for HF Deluxe Canvas Black could be part of Hero’s broader strategy to strengthen demand in the entry-level commuter segment, which remains one of its biggest volume contributors. While Hero has not linked the price cut to market share, the move comes at a time when competition is intensifying and rivals continue to close the gap.
