Foreign institutional investors were net sellers in Indian equities on Friday, offloading shares worth ₹3,693.93 crore on a provisional basis, while domestic institutional investors remained net buyers with purchases of ₹2,838.17 crore, according to exchange data.
FIIs bought equities worth ₹12,327.36 crore and sold shares worth ₹16,021.29 crore during the session, resulting in net selling of ₹3,693.93 crore. DIIs, meanwhile, purchased equities worth ₹14,035.77 crore and sold shares worth ₹11,197.60 crore, resulting in net buying of ₹2,838.17 crore.

A day earlier, FIIs had turned heavy sellers, offloading ₹5,027.36 crore on Thursday and reversing the net buying seen in the previous session. DIIs remained net buyers, purchasing equities worth ₹4,301.18 crore. Separately, Indian equity benchmarks recovered to close largely higher on Friday, with the Nifty climbing above the 23,100 mark, while midcaps underperformed and the Nifty Midcap index ended in the red.
The Sensex rose 315 points to 73,896, while the Nifty gained 77 points to close at 23,141. The Nifty Bank advanced 142 points to 55,580, whereas the Nifty Midcap index slipped 84 points to 60,906. Market breadth was mildly in favour of advances, with the advance-decline ratio at 5:4.

Nifty extends losing streak to seven weeksIndian equity benchmarks extended their losing streak for a seventh consecutive week, marking their first such run since the COVID period. The Nifty fell 1% this week, taking its cumulative decline over the last seven weeks to nearly 6%.
The Sensex declined 0.6% during the week, while the Nifty Bank and Nifty Midcap index each slipped around 2%. Among sectoral indices, IT witnessed the steepest decline, falling 2%, while FMCG was the top gainer, rising 1%. The weekly decline was broad-based across Nifty stocks, with 33 constituents ending lower.

Of these, 15 stocks fell 2% or more.
