Shares of Aegis Logistics surged as much as 7% on Thursday, August 6, after the company reported a sharp jump in June quarter earnings, driven by robust revenue growth and a significant improvement in operating profitability.The stock later gave up most of its gains and was trading at ₹1,414.90, up 1.37%, as of 12.33 pm, after hitting an intraday high of ₹1,497.80.The logistics and liquefied petroleum gas infrastructure company reported a consolidated net profit of ₹484 crore for the quarter ended June, compared with ₹131 crore in the corresponding period last year. EBITDA margin expanded sharply to 30.3% from 14%, reflecting stronger operating performance during the quarter.Profit before tax rose to ₹719.3 crore from ₹227.9 crore in the year-ago quarter, while tax expense increased to ₹174.4 crore from ₹52.5 crore. Total expenses climbed to ₹1,743.9 crore from ₹1,554 crore, led by higher purchases of stock-in-trade, employee costs and finance costs.Purchases of stock-in-trade increased to ₹1,993.7 crore from ₹1,418.6 crore, employee benefit expenses rose to ₹24.9 crore from ₹32.8 crore, while finance costs stood at ₹47.7 crore against ₹32.8 crore a year earlier.The company's Gas Terminal division remained the primary contributor to performance. Segment revenue increased to ₹2,178.6 crore from ₹1,575.5 crore a year ago, while segment profit more than quadrupled to ₹575.3 crore from ₹132.1 crore.The Liquid Terminal division also delivered steady growth, with revenue rising to ₹178.3 crore from ₹143.9 crore and segment profit improving to ₹109.7 crore from ₹80.4 crore.Aegis Logistics' consolidated total comprehensive income rose to ₹544.8 crore from ₹175.2 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Profit attributable to owners of the company increased to ₹484.4 crore from ₹131.3 crore, while earnings per share improved to ₹13.80 from ₹3.74 a year ago.The company said its unaudited financial results were reviewed by the audit committee and approved by the board of directors at its meeting held on August 6. The statutory auditors issued an unmodified limited review report on the quarterly results.
