Used Premium SUVs – Volvo XC60

We have found this 2019 Volvo XC60 listed on the marketplace for Rs 23 lakh. This seems like great value, as it is a single-owner vehicle with only 59,000km. The XC60 is packed with luxuries like 4-zone climate control, Nappa leather upholstery, 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated and powered front seats, an ADAS suite, 360-degree camera, wireless charging, 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins speaker system, panoramic sunroof and much more. This is an impressive feature list, especially for a 7-year-old car. Importantly, along with these luxuries, you get the privilege of owning a Volvo.

You also get a punchy 2.0-litre diesel unit (235bhp & 480Nm) to power this SUV along. Power is delivered to all 4 wheels via an 8-speed gearbox. Not to mention, Volvo is one of the more reliable carmakers out there. The maintenance cost might be higher than a Hyundai’s, but still isn’t as high as Mercedes’, Audi’s, or BMW’s. All in all, this deal sounds perfect.

2023 Volkswagen Tiguan

Old German vehicles can be a pain to maintain, but not this one. This 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan is being listed at Rs 22.75 lakh. Being a 3-year-old model, it is probably still under its original warranty. You can live a peaceful 1-2 years until the warranty expires. Along with the characteristic German build quality, it also gets a lot of amenities like 30-colour ambient lighting, an 8-inch infotainment screen, and a 10-inch digital driver’s display, LED matrix headlights, wired Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, reverse parking camera, 3-zone climate control, electric tailgate, etc.

Volkswagen cars are known for their drivability, and the same is true of the Tiguan. It gets a 2.0-litre TSI engine that churns out a healthy 188bhp & 320 Nm. This petrol motor is mated to the popular 7-speed DSG and Volkswagen’s 4Motion AWD drivetrain. Importantly, it is the same engine currently used in the Tiguan R-Line, Tayron R-Line, and the Skoda Kodiaq, which means part sourcing won’t be difficult.

The Tiguan’s feature list may lag behind the Hyundai Creta’s, but you are well compensated by a premium cabin and a beautiful driving experience.

Used Premium SUVs – Audi Q5

This 2018 Audi Q5 is currently on sale for around Rs 24 lakh. However, if planning to buy it, be prepared to spend a couple of lakhs on its maintenance, as such German luxury cars are notorious for their reliability.

It’s not all doom and gloom, though, as the Q5 welcomes you with luxuries like 3-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, 8.3-inch infotainment screen, 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, etc. These features may not seem like much compared to the Creta, but come on, it’s a stunning-looking Audi. The interiors are packed with high-quality materials, and you would struggle to find cheap plastic.

The Q5 is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to a 7-speed gearbox via Audi’s fabled Quattro drivetrain. In this configuration, 261 bhp & 370 Nm are sent to all 4 wheels.

Jaguar F-Pace

It must have been a long time since you last heard about Jaguar. This isn’t necessarily a negative, as you can benefit from its depreciation. You can get this 2018 Jaguar F-Pace for Rs 19.25 lakh. The price seems fair until you consider the struggles you would face in parts sourcing and maintenance. You would have to spend the money you saved on its maintenance. So are there any upsides?

To divert your mind from the imminent servicing costs, the F-Pace offers features such as a 10-inch infotainment screen, a Meridian sound system, 4-zone climate control, and 10-way powered front seats. You also get a 2.0-litre diesel engine which makes 180bhp & 430Nm. And like other cars in this list, it gets an automatic AWD drivetrain.

Used Premium SUVs – Hyundai Tucson

This 2023 Hyundai Tucson is up for sale for a price tag of Rs 21 lakh. Furthermore, this unit is likely still under warranty, and you won’t have to worry much about servicing. Even after the warranty is void, Hyundai models are quite reliable and hassle-free to maintain.

On the feature front, it offers amenities such as Level-2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, a rear parking camera, powered front seats, a wireless charger, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system. The only letdown is the 2.0-litre petrol engine. The Tucson was offered with a more desirable 2.0-litre diesel engine back then, and the diesel Tucson costs around Rs 3-4 lakh more in the used-car market. Unlike other cars in this list, which offer AWD, the Tucson offers a 4WD drivetrain. Why get the Creta when you can have its more premium sibling and 4WD for the same price?
