Scindia's Statement:

DoT is waiting for a formal request from Vodafone. Govt will make a recommendation after evaluating Vodafone Idea’s proposal.

Judgement needs to be evaluated from a point of view of what can be done and what cannot be done. We cannot cross the border of the SC judgement.

SC judgement is for Vodafone Idea and therefore any govt recommendations are for Vodafone Idea. Any other company which wants similar relief will have to approach the Supreme Court.

Vodafone Idea Share Price:

The shares of Vodafone Idea have risen around 7% in the past one month.
The shares are currently up more than 27% in 2025 so far.
The shares of Vodafone Idea rose to Rs 10.32 apiece in the morning trading hours of Tuesday, snapping a two-session losing streak.

Background:

The government became the largest shareholder in Vodafone Idea in March this year after converting dues worth Rs 36,950 crore into equity, taking its stake to nearly 49 percent.

Earlier, in 2023, the Centre had picked up a 33 percent stake in lieu of statutory dues exceeding Rs 16,000 crore.
